Kirchheim, October 13, 2026 – genua GmbH, a subsidiary of the Bundesdruckerei Group, has raised the performance of its High Resistance Firewalls, genugate and genugate Virtual, to a new level—while simultaneously enhancing their already very high level of protection. genugate 11.3 now achieves a TCP data throughput of up to 40 Gbit/s.
In addition, the major release 11.0 of genugate and genugate Virtual received approval from the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, BSI) in September for the processing of data classified at German classification level “Restricted” (Classified – For Official Use Only). Entities in the classified-information sector and public-sector organizations can use the firewall to protect their sensitive networks.
High Level of Security Through the Application Layer Gateway
At the heart of genugate and genugate Virtual is the Application Layer Gateway (ALG): It prevents a direct connection between the connected networks and analyzes and controls all data traffic with first-class security features.
genugate is the first—and so far the only—firewall to receive EAL4+ certification with AVA_VAN.5 in accordance with the international Common Criteria standard ISO/IEC 15408 (CC). AVA_VAN.5 attests to exceptionally high resilience against advanced attack methods. In addition, genugate is the only firewall worldwide to be classified as “Highly Resistant” by the BSI. This underscores that genugate and genugate Virtual ensure maximum protection against cyberattacks.
Use in the Cloud and in Virtualization Environments
genugate Virtual is a virtual machine that can be flexibly deployed in cloud and virtualization environments. It can be scaled quickly and automatically by launching additional preconfigured instances. This allows for dynamic adaptation to growing network environments and requirements. The ability to run multiple instances in parallel ensures high availability and load balancing, which is particularly advantageous for critical applications in the cloud.
