genuline: Approved Quantum-Resistant 100 Gbit/s High-Speed VPN for High-Security Network Coupling

  • High-Performance, FPGA-Based VPN Gateway with up to
    100 Gbit/s Data Throughput
  • Quantum-Resistant, Routable Layer 3 Encryption
  • BSI Approval for Classification Levels German and NATO "Restricted" and EU RESTRICTED

Kirchheim (Germany), January 26, 2026 – The German IT security manufacturer genua GmbH, part of the Bundesdruckerei Group, has expanded its portfolio with the new high-performance VPN Gateway genuline. The slim hardware appliance, just 1 HU tall, addresses the requirement for high data transfer rates and low latency while simultaneously providing maximum security – e.g., for the coupling of datacenters (Data Center Interconnect, DCI) or locations of organizations with high protection requirements. At the same time, it supplies up to 2,048 bidirectional connections

genuline combines state-of-the-art FPGA technology (Field Programmable Gate Array) for accelerating the data throughput with a natively implemented IPsec / Layer 3 VPN (Virtual Private Network). genuline utilizes a quantum-resistant key exchange for IPsec/IKEv2 with approval for classification levels German and NATO RESTRICTED and RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED. The VPN gateway is therefore also suitable for the processing of classified information at public authorities and in organizations in the classified sector.

genuline is "Made in Germany" and helps operators of high-availability datacenters meet the requirements of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) by enabling the geo-redundant operation of multiple locations with high-performance, end-to-end encrypted connections, even over distances exceeding 200 kilometers.

Variety of Possible Uses

genuline addresses numerous demanding application cases, such as tap-proof, low-latency connections for the transfer of large quantities of data at security authorities, real-time communication with minimal latency and maximum security in the financial sector as well as the connection of networks with very high security requirements in the area of critical infrastructure, such as at energy and water suppliers and at traffic control centers.

The solution is also suitable as a DCI-VPN for (VS) cloud providers and hyperscalers, businesses with their own datacenters as well as for the securely encrypted connections of on-premises infrastructures with cloud resources. Furthermore, genuline can couple production facilities, AI training systems and edge datacenters, research clusters and supercomputing locations securely and with high bandwidth.

Simplified Administration, Lower Operating Costs

genuline can be more quickly integrated into existing IT ecosystems and more easily managed than classic high-speed VPN system architectures, which are constructed using appliance clusters. genuline can replace multiple individual devices – this reduces complexity and the risk of errors. The improved energy efficiency also reduces the current load and the operating costs.

With its FPGA-based technology, genuline picks up where conventional solutions hit their limits: with the simultaneous transfer of large quantities of data between multiple datacenters or locations. The hardwareaccelerated data processing ensures reliable, high-speed data transfers at up to 100 Gbit/s (full-duplex) at a constant low latency. genuline achieves performance values of 99.9% of the theoretically possible line speed independent of the size of the transferred packets.

Backdoor-Free VPN Technology

genuline is based on the backdoor-free VPN technology from genua. Connections are encrypted end-to-end on layer 3 in accordance with IPsec standard. This has concrete advantages for layer 2 connections as well: Encrypted layer 2 frames remain routable through encapsulation in layer 3 packets. Time-critical applications such as VoiP telephony or video streaming are thereby possible without glitches or delays, even under high network loads. A redundant, high-availability configuration optionally enables maximum fault tolerance.

The genuline high-performance VPN gateway is configured and managed comfortably via the genucenter Central Management Station from genua. The genua security solutions can be configured, administrated and continuously monitored using genucenter's user-friendly, standardized GUI
