Highly Secure VPN Client genuconnect: Cross-Platform Support for Greater Digital Sovereignty

Kirchheim, October 12, 2026 – genua delivers another component for greater digital sovereignty: The German IT security provider, a company of the Bundesdruckerei Group, has ported its highly secure VPN client genuconnect to Apple’s macOS operating system. Like the already-certified Windows version, genuconnect for macOS offers a very high level of protection.

This gives users more options when choosing their device platforms – and thus greater independence from individual providers. The VPN technology used in genuconnect is 100% made in Germany, equipped with quantum-resistant encryption, and enables highly secure data communication over unsecured networks – such as when working from home or on the go. This user-friendly product is therefore ideally suited for setting up modern, VS-NfD-compliant “New Work” workstations.

genuconnect for macOS is expected to be available starting in late 2026. The VPN client is currently undergoing the approval process with the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, BSI) for handling information classified at German classification level “Restricted” (Classified – For Official Use Only). genua aims to obtain approval by the time the product launches.

For example, genua helps government agencies, industries with an obligation to maintain secrecy, and companies with high security needs – such as those in the critical infrastructure sector – to design their infrastructures and work tools in a flexible and future-proof manner – without having to compromise on the level of protection.

genuconnect for macOS is flexible, powerful, and scalable, even for infrastructures with more than 100,000 VPN clients. Thanks to centralized management, the clients are easy to administer. The product is compatible with common roll-out mechanisms and supports seamless integration into public-key infrastructures (PKI). 

genuconnect for macOS works in conjunction with the genuscreen and genuscreen Virtual VPN gateways to enable a quantum-resistant connection to networks with a very high level of security. It also supports integration with iOS-based iPhones and iPads in Apple Indigo setups.

Thanks to its deep integration into Apple’s macOS operating system, genuconnect makes optimal use of hardware resources and operates completely transparently in the background during use. This means users are securely connected to the internal corporate network in mobile work scenarios and can use even resource-intensive applications smoothly.
